HISTORY

Weston Anders was born and raised in Washington DC, the son of a prominent political family. As was proper for a child of such breeding, he was sent to the best schools for the best education with the hopes that he would grow up to become the perfect little clone of his father. Unfortunately for the elder Anders, that was not to happen. Instead of giving into the 'mind mold', as he would later call it, Weston grew to become a very outgoing, very opinionated young man. He wouldn't hesitate to say just what he was thinking, regardless of present company. His parents, in the hopes of calming him down a bit, sent him away to Georgetown Prepatory School. Needless to say, this attempt failed as well. When Weston returned home, and later attended Georgetown University, he was just as pragmatic as before.

He claims to have been bitten by the journalist bug when he was at the prep school, reading some of the minor 'scandals' in the local news and school papers. He would often be found disputing facts found in these reports, whether or not they were true. So it was a slight surprise that he graduated with a degree in English, but the minor in American Studies surprised no one.

Despite being a very bright individual, Weston seemed to lack much drive and motivation to push himself very hard. He had potential, but never saw the point of trying too hard. He landed a job at the Local News Channel 8 as a newswriter, preferring to be behind the camera and out of the public's eye. After all, it would be hard to maintain an unbiased opinion once you were on TV and famous, right? He did well, and there was no one who could dispute that. One of the few things that could motivate him to change his life, however, proved to be the death of his parents. His father had died in 2000 of lymphoma, and when his mother died in late 2006, he soon discovered that Washington DC no longer held any appeal to him. After all, his family was gone, his (ex)wife was gone, what was left? So he went on a job search, eventually finding an opening at Spent Magazine, based in New York City.

In the fall of 2007, in rapid succession, Weston found himself faced with a string of promotions. First, he requested, and was granted, a column of his own. Weeks later, with the quitting of the previous editor, Weston found him given a rather prestigious promotion. From news columnist to News and Entertainment Editor. He's quite proud of his position, and does his job very well.

the truth of the new is never on the news.' - Adrienne Rich
